Bucksnort Northern Railroad

The Bucksnort Northern Railroad is located in the Dallas area.  Phase 1 is currently complete with 3,000 feet of mainline track.  McKinney and Sherman have the nearest hotels / motels approximately 21 miles to each. 

Safety chains are required, brakes recommended.  Track is 7-5/8” gauge. 

Item completed at the phase 1 point: – October 2022

  1. Storage Conex
  2. 3 track transfer table with crushed concrete drive and concrete apron.  Max height 90”. 
  3. (6) 20’ long steaming bays
  4. 5 short storage tracks at the transfer yard
  5. 3 run around tracks for trains up to 120’
  6. Max grade is 2.5%
  7. Min radius is 50’
  8. Mainline switches are all number 9
  9. Transfer yard switches are #5 & #8

Phase 2 items will include: – completed by October 2023

  1. House & shop loop – 1,200 feet of track
  2. Permanent power at transfer table
  3. RV parking spots at bunkhouse – 3 total
  4. Air at transfer table
  5. 20’ turn table with 12 steaming bays
  6. North / West yard
  7. Meeting pavilion concrete floor

Phase 3 items will include:

  1. Spur to bunkhouse and meeting pavilion. 
  2. Passenger terminal
  3. South loop 4200 feet of track
  4. Roundhouse & Track Restroom
